Smart card distribution in Rajshahi Apr 2, Barisal Apr 1

The distribution of machine-readable smart national identity (NID) cards will begin in Rajshahi on April 2 while in Barisal on April 15, reports BSS.
Election Commissioner (EC) Md Rafiqul Islam will inaugurate the distribution programme at Shilpokola Academy in Rajshahi at 10 am on April 2, Mohammad Abdullah, secretary of EC secretariat, told BSS. He also said that EC Mahbub Talukder will inaugurate the smart ID card distribution programme in Barisal on April 15. The machine-readable smart cards will prevent its forgery. For being machine readable, the smart cards have additional safety measures against forgery.
