A customs intelligence team yesterday seized a luxury vehicle from controversial businessperson Moosa bin Shamsher.
A black Range Rover SUV was seized from the capital’s Dhanmondi area on charges of evading taxes on its registration using fake documents, a customs official said.
Director General of the Customs Intelligence Mainul Khan said the expensive vehicle bearing registration-Bhola Gha 110035- was registered in Bhola with import documents paying 130 per cent duties. However, the documents were found to be fake later, Mainul added. The Dhanmondi house from where the vehicle was seized belongs to Barrister Akhtar Imam, whose daughter Rashna Imam is married to Moosa's eldest son, lawyer Bobby Hajjaj.
Detectives went to seize the SUV at Moosa's Gulshan home but it was not there.
By the time our men reached the Gulshan house, the vehicle was moved, Mainul said, adding the vehicle was repainted in an effort to hide it from detectives.
