A disaster response committee will be formed at every ward of 11 city corporations by May 31 next aiming to cope with any disaster aftermath, said Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya yesterday, reports UNB.
“Ward-based disaster response committees will be formed in consultation with city mayors,” he said while addressing the inaugural session of a three-day workshop organised by the ministry at Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM) in the capital.
The minister said: “Bangladesh is now a role model globally in addressing disaster. So, the capacity of government officials must be enhanced to sustain the status.”
