Shakib best all-rounder again

The musical chair with the top spot of the ICC Test all-rounder rankings is going on with Bangladesh ace Shakib Al Hasan again dethroning India’s Ravichandran Ashwin. Shakib’s stellar performance in batting and bowling against Sri Lanka in Bangladesh’s 100th Test match contributed in leapfrogging Ashwin in the rankings. Shakib is now top all-rounder in all three formats of the cricket.  Two weeks ago, Ashwin displaced Shakib from the top position but a mediocre performance in Ranchi Test against Australia cost him the place. India failed to win that match following Ashwin’s low-key performance.
Shakib on the other hand scored a brilliant century in Bangladesh’s landmark Test and also took a match haul of six wickets to steer the side to a four-wicket win over Sri Lanka. Shakib with 431 rating points now lead Ashwin by 23 points.
Shakib also achieved career best rankings in batting by placing him 21st place in the rankings, following his 116 and 15 runs in two innings of Colombo Test. Along with him, Bangladesh Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim also gained career best 28th rankings.
Shakib is now the highest ranked player of Bangladesh in both batting and bowling chart of the ICC rankings. He is ranked 20 bowling in bowling chart. Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal who was adjudged man of the match in Bangladesh’s 100th Test due to his match-defining 82 runs knock in the fourth innings is ranked 24th after the release of the latest ICC rankings.
Meanwhile, following the victory against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh’s rankings though didn’t improve, as per the latest rankings that they have gained five ratings point. Their rating points now stand 66, just three behind eight placed West Indies. From that position, they have the golden chance to leapfrog West Indies in the near future if everything goes well.
