World Water Day today

The World Water Day is set to be celebrated in Bangladesh today, reports UNB.
WaterAid Bangladesh, in association with HSBC Bangladesh and Sajida Foundation, will celebrate the day at T&T Adarsha Girls’ High School, Warless Gate, Mohakhali, Dhaka at 9:30 am today.
Francois de Maricourt, CEO of HSBC Bangladesh, Imrul Kayes Muniruzzaman, Ph.D., Director, Fundraising & Learning, WaterAid Bangladesh, Zahida Fizza Kabir, Executive Director, Sajida Foundation, Abdullah Al Jubayer, Manager Corporate Sustainability, HSBC Limited, and others will be present on the occasion.
The programme will witness the inauguration of a unique initiative for the school’s students - the knowledge corner ‘Human value based Water, sanitation and Hygiene education’ - prize distribution as well as the handover ceremony, among other activities.
Thousands of school children will take part in the celebration through various colourful activities with great enthusiasm as part of initiatives undertaken by WaterAid Bangladesh to create awareness on water uses among school children.
Activities organised by the students include drawing and poem exhibition at the knowledge corner, drama performance and introduction of hygiene volunteers at the B.K.Aftab Govt. Primary School, Tejgaon, and T&T Adarsha Girls’ High School, Wireless Gate, Mohakhali.
WaterAid Bangladesh in partnership with Sajida Foundation has been implementing the project ‘Advanced WASH situations at schools for addressing the challenges of urbanisation’ funded by the local HSBC Bank in two schools in Dhaka city, with the aim of improving the water supply, sanitation facilities and hygiene practices among the students, building awareness among students on water conservancy and promoting rainwater harvesting as alternative water source to face challenges with water scarcity.
