Man to die for killing wife

A court here yesterday sentenced a man to death for killing his wife at Naoda-Bahalbaria in Mirpur upazila of the district in 2013, reports BSS.

The condemned convict is identified as Shihabuddin Shishir, 30. He has been absconding after securing bail.
After examining records and witnesses, Kushtia's Chief Judicial Magistrate Reza M Alamgir Hasan handed down the verdict.
The prosecution story, in brief, is that Shishir strangled his wife Snigdha Akter Rimi, a student of Kushtia Government College, at Naoda Bahalbaria in Mirpur upazila of the district.
After a month of the murder, Shishir was arrested. He then confessed before a judge. But, after securing bail, Shishir went into hiding, a court official said.
