Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Mohammad Sayeed Khokon yesterday asked the authorities concerned to demolish 109 buildings, identified earlier as vulnerable, within the shortest possible time.
He issued the directive while inaugurating the demolition work of vulnerable buildings of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) cleaners at Dhalpur in the old part of the city in the morning.
The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) said new buildings would be constructed for the cleaners in the same place under the housing project.
“As an elected mayor of the south city corporation, my prime duty is to ensure the security of city dwellers, their lives and properties,” Khokon said, adding that as part of this, the vulnerable buildings of Banalata and New Super Markets would be demolished within three to six months.
The the south city corporation mayor categorically said that a total of 109 vulnerable public and private buildings in the area would be dispose of within the shortest possible time.
“The eviction drive has formally started yesterday,” The the south city corporation mayor added, reports BSS.
Senior officials of the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) were present on the occasion.
