India have drawn to face its arch rival Pakistan in the curtain raiser of the Second T20 Asia Cup Deaf Cricket Championship-2017 at the City Club Ground in the capital on March 21.
The hosts Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Nepal are the other sides, who will compete for the championship alongside India and Pakistan in the meet.
Zakir Hossain Khan, president of Bangladesh Deaf Sports Federation (BDSF) revealed this at a press conference at the Dutch Bangla Bank Auditorium of the Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) yesterday.
Ashok Kumar Bishwas, secretary of the National Sports Council (NSC), Din Mohammad, director (sports) of NSC, BDSF vice president Ghazi Quamrul Hasan, its general secretary Firoz Ahmed and National Deaf Sangstha president Mahbubur Rahman were also present on the occasion.
Bangladesh formed a balance and compact squad with the blend of the experienced and youngster players, who took a month-long preparation for the tournament. A total of eight players, who have experience to play the maiden edition in India in 2015, while the rest of the players of the squad, who have come out from the talent hunt programme orgainsed by NSC.
Praising NSC and concerned authorities of the government, BDSF president that NSC provided Tk four lakh to run and meet the expenses of the tournament. Along with that, they will accommodate all the foreign teams and local team’s players and officials at the Mirpur Krira Palli-1.
Last time Bangladesh had to pacify as runner-up losing to the hosts Indian side in 2015. But this time they want to be champions what the host team coach, players and team officials told at the press conference.
Pakistan and Indian contingents are scheduled to arrive here in Dhaka on March 20, while Sri Lanka and Nepal are slated to land at the early hours of the tournament opener.
