Taraji P. Henson: I would love to be a Marvel superhero
Listen up, Kevin Feige! Taraji P. Henson has set her sights on the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I would love to be a Marvel superhero, the Hidden Figures and Empire actress said of other characters shed like to take on in an interview with The New York Times. Im dying to get into some comedy. I think Im a stronger comedic actress than a dramatic actress. You guys just fell for the drama side. (True, but shes just so good at it.)
Henson previously spoke about her desire to play the part of one trying to save the world with EW in September. I havent played a superhero yet, I havent played a psycho character yet, she explained. I want to play a man, like I want to really disappear. I have so much to do.
She also spoke to how long shed like to fill the role as matriarch Cookie Lyon on Empire. Well of course, I want it to go into syndication, she said. Its not like its a bad job. You see how much fun we have. Even with the crew, you can feel the energy on this set. So its not like its a bad job. But what Im starting to find is that now Im getting more offers for features.
Henson recently starred as NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson in Hidden Figures, which racked up three Oscar nominations and won the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance By a Cast in a Motion Picture. Shell be back on Empire when the drama returns Wednesday at 9 p.m. E.T. on Fox and is also set to play the title assassin-turned-good in the upcoming Proud Mary.
