The month-long the 25th Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF) begins from today in the city’s Railway Pologround with a view to promoting domestic products in the international markets.
Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) President Mahbubul Alam disclosed this at a press conference held at the Bangabandhu Conference Hall at World Trade Centre in Chittagong yesterday.
Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu is scheduled to inaugurate the fair organised by the Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry at 3:30pm today.
Chittagong City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin and Acting President of Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry Md Shafiul Islam will be present as special guests at the inaugural ceremony.
Nurul Newaz Salim, chairman CITF-2007 committee, said over 272 stalls of 450 companies have been set up in the fair covering four lakh square feet areas of Raliway Pologround, including 16 premier gold pavilions, four mini mega pavilions, five premier pavilions, 10 standard pavilions.
The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 10:00pm for visitors and the price of ticket is Tk10.
To ensure security of the fair, law enforcers will be deployed and CCTV cameras will be on at the key points.
Besides, there will be an information desk to help visitors. Bkash and Standard Bank Ltd will open a temporary ATM booth inside the fair venue.
Some of the leading industrial enterprises of home and abroad including Iran, India, Turkey and Pakistan are going to participate in the fair.
In the press briefing, Mahfujul Haque Shah and some other directors of CCCI were present.
Demanding a permanent venue for the fair, the CCCI president Mahabubul Alam said they are facing problem to arrange the fair in time as there is no permanent venue to hold the CITF fair. They have to depend on Railway, he added.
