‘Students should be enriched with Bangabandhu’s ideals’
RAJSHAHI: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam has said the present students should be enriched with the nation-building ideals and education of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for furthermore progress of the country.
He said Bangabandhu had brought up his all family members with appropriate leadership characteristics and all of us should follow the ideals properly for sake of the country’s welfare. He was addressing the inaugural ceremony of a two-day ‘Silver Jubilee’ festival of Mader Bux Home Economics College premises on Friday as the chief guest. Literate Prof Hassan Azizul Haque opened the festival.
Mayor-in-Charge of Rajshahi City Corporation Nizam-Ul Azim, College Inspector of National University Prof Shamsuddin Ilias, President of Rajshahi Chamber of Commerce and Industries Md Muniruzzaman and Principal of the college Shalama Shahadat also spoke. Member of College Governing Body Shafiqur Rahman was in the chair.
Listing various education expansion programmes of the government Shahriar Alam said the government is committed to enrich the list of competent human resource.
He said the youth forces have already started building Digital Bangladesh through their learning and earning activities. Present government is extending all support towards them so that they could build themselves as ICT-based income-generators.
State Minister Alam also said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has taken strict measures to eliminate militancy and terrorism from the country.
Teachers, religious leaders and all other cross-section of people should be united against the crimes side by side with the law-enforcing agencies, he added.
Bangabandhu’s birthday celebrated at BRUR
RANGPUR” Vice-chancellor (VC) of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) Professor Dr AKM Nurun Nabi on Friday said there would be no Bangladesh if Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was not born on this soil.
“We would not become independent--- Bangabandhu is the Architect of Bangladesh--- Bangabandhu is immortal to the Bengali Nation and he lives among us---- he will live in the heart of every Bangalee forever, he said.
Professor Nabi said this at a discussion arranged in celebration of the 98th birthday of Bangabandhu and National Children's Day-2017 through daylong programmes and Vice-chancellor Award distribution ceremony at Independence Memorial on the campus on Friday as the chief guest.
The programmes included placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu by the VC at Independence Memorial along with the teachers, students, officials and employees, competitions for children of different schools on Bangabandhu and prize distribution. Later, wreaths were placed at the portrait of Bangabandhu at Independence Memorial on behalf of Begum Rokeya University Teachers' Association, Dr Wazed Research Institute, different residential halls and other organisations of the university.
Earlier, a huge colourful rally, led by the VC with participation of hundreds of students, teachers, officials and employees of the university, was brought out in the campus.
In the beginning, Professor Nabi formally inaugurated observance of the day by cutting a huge cake at the same venue.
JUJA gets computer from JU authority
The authority of Jahangirnagar University (JU) yesterday handed over a computer to Jahangirnagar University Journalist’s Association (JUJA).
JU VC Dr Farzana Islam handed over this computer to JUJA leaders at her office.
On the occasion JU VC urged the journalists to present authentic news.
Meanwhile, JUJA president Moudud Ahmmed Sujan, JU Correspondent of Daily Sun expressed deep gratitude to her.
JUJA Vice President Ariful Nehal of Shamakal, Joint Secretary Saiful Islam of New Age, Office and Publication Secretary Nur Alam Himel of Bangnews24.com and Assaduz Zaman of Daily Star was present among others.Mentionable, JUJA started its journey from 1972 as the first journalist’s organisation at campus level.
Attack on journo condemned
Islamic University (Kushtia): The Islamic University Journalists Association(IUJA) on Saturday condemned the attack on the Dhaka University (DU) correspondent of the United News of Bangladesh (UNB).
IUJA condemned the incident in a statement signed by its President Mustafa Zubayer Alam and Joint-secretary Rashedun Nobi Rashed.
Imran, a fourth-year student of the Mass Communication and Journalism department and a resident of Bijoy Ekattor Hall of the university, suffered injuries in an attack allegedly by activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at the same hall early Tuesday.
