No place of extremism in Islam: Gowher

Prime Ministers Foreign Affairs Adviser Dr Gowher Rizvi yesterday said there is no place of extremism in Islam as it is the religion of peace, reports UNB. While addressing a publication ceremony, he, however, said today Islam is blamed for some extremists globally. Allama Rumi Society Dhaka organised the event unveiling the publication of the first and second volumes of the compiled literary works of Banglar Rumi Syed Ahmadul Huq at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy in the city, said a press release. Dr Rizvi said Islam was spread in this region by Pir-Aulia (saints) who were the followers of Sufism. There was no force to spread Islam...everything happened spontaneously... there was no violence. Citing Fridays attack in the capital, he said some people are spreading violence in the name of religion. Rumis ideology is badly needed today for these de-motivated people. And only then peace will prevail in society. Pro -Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Aktaruzzaman presided over the event.
