Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) yesterday (Friday) organised a programme at the Art Plaza, Segun Bagicha, in the capital on the occasion of the 97th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The day is also celebrated as National Children’s Day. The day-long event began with placing of wreaths at pictures of Bangabandhu. Drawing competition, dramas, acrobatic shows, recitations and many other programmes were held to mark the occasion.
Planned, scripted and directed by Director General of BSA Liaquat Ali Lucky, a play titled ‘Mujib Mane Mukti’ was staged at the event. It portrayed the simple and ordinary lifestyle of Bangabandhu. As the story progresses, Bangabandhu is seen growing up through different events. Rooted in history, the story of the play depicts the versatile life of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. From his boyhood to his tragic death, the play unfolds the major episodes of his life. The play also brings out a few incidents relating to national importance, including the Language Movement, Agartala Conspiracy Case, Bangadbandhu’s historic speech of March 7 and finally, the Liberation War. The play also narrates the emergence of Bangladesh as a free nation. A total of 50 artistes of the troupe take part in this production.
Besides, children-based films—‘The Shoes’, ‘Matir Pakhi’, ‘Mon Faring’, ‘Raktajaba’ and ‘Madho’ were screened to mark the occasion.
