A Chittagong court yesterday recorded a confessional statement of the arrestee in the case for beating up a female school teacher in classroom in Patiya upazila of Chittagong.
Muhidul Islam, senior judicial magistrate of Patiya in Chittagong, recorded the statement under Section 164, said Md Kamal Hossain, sub-inspector of Patiya Police Station, also investigation officer (IO) of the case.
Accused Ahsan Ullah Tutul (30), son of Anowar Hossain of the same village who was arrested by police from his house, was sent to jail after the confessional statement to the court, he said. We prayed for the 5-day remand but the court did not grant remand order after hearing his confessional statement, added Md Kamal Hossain.
Meanwhile, on March 14, Tutu allegedly beat up Misfa Sultana (26), an assistant teacher of Purba Dengapara Government Primary School, with an iron rod when she was taking class around 9:30am. Later, locals rescued her and took her to Patiya Heath Complex with severe injuries in hands and legs.
She was later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH). Before the incident on March 8, Misfa lodged a complaint against him to the school committee.
In this connection, on March 14, her father, a freedom fighter filed a case under section number 323, 325, 307, 354, and 506 against Tutul.
