China is the world’s stabilizing anchor
More than 2,500 runners participated in a special race—Raibow Run— held in Tengchong, Yunnan province last week. Three stops were established on the 5-kilometer route. Employees and volunteers prepared red, yellow and blue powder artificially synthesized with corn starch and edible pigment. Race participants were covered in the colorful powders as they passed each stop, eventually crossing the finish line saturated with the bright hues. Here a runner is sprayed with coloful powder. Following the 18th Congress of the Communist Party of China, in diplomacy, China has been making general reforms in every aspect. It has thus overcome uncountable hardships, done pioneering work, and written a new chapter in the book of great-power politics with Chinese characteristics.

In 2016, China’s economic growth was 6.7%, ranking No. 1 among the main economic bodies of the world, and continuing to take the lead. Such contributions to world economic growth have exceeded 30%.

China is also a firm presence for peacekeeping. As one of the five permanent council members of UNSC, China is the country sending out the most people. China’s army is taking an active part in international peace maintenance, the anti-terrorism struggle, in humanitarian rescue efforts and the settling of sensitive hot-spot issues.

In the arena of global governance, China is actively contributing to international public ideas. In May of this year, the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation will be held in Beijing. The rise of One Belt, One Road has become more eye-catching.

The progressiveness of China’s diplomacy is fully shown in its innovation of diplomatic thought. This includes the advocacy of mating without alignment, amplifying the circle of friends, building up new-style international relations with win-win cooperation as the core, and together building up a commonwealth of human destiny.

To sum up, China has always shouldered its responsibility, and has made deep imprints regarding global governance. China has really given play to its role as a stabilizing anchor.
