A court here sent a youth, who beat a female schoolteacher in the classroom in Patiya upazila following refusal of his love proposal, to jail yesterday, reports UNB.
Patiya Senior Judicial Magistrate Mahitul Islam passed the order after sub-inspector of Patiya Police Station Kamal Hossain, also investigation officer of a case filed over the attack, produced Ahsan Ullah Tutul of Dengapara village in the upazila before the court seeking a five-day remand.
The court also fixed Thursday for hearing the remand petition, said IO Kamal.
Earlier, Tutul stormed into the classroom at Purba Dengapara Government Primary School at Dengapara on Tuesday morning and beat assistant teacher of the school Misfa Sultana, 25, with a spud while she was taking a class, breaking her two hands and the left leg.
Tutul carried out the attack as Misfa refused his love proposal, alleged the family members. Mifsa was now undergoing treatment at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH).
After the incident, police arrested the alleged attacker from the village.
