Hawkers welcome HC rule

Bangladesh Hawkers Union (BHU) convener Abdul Hashem Kabir yesterday welcomed a High Court rule on the issue of rehabilitation of hawkers and urged the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sayeed Khokan to accept it.

“We are planning to stage a demonstration before the DSCC Nagar Bhavan on March 22 to press home our demand for not forcing us from the pavements without arranging our rehabilitation”, the BHU leader said.
He said, they were forced out of the Gulistan area by the police again yesterday after some hawkers tried to sell their wares from pavements there.
