Schoolgirl gang-raped in capital

In yet another shocking incident, a schoolgirl was gang-raped by miscreants in the city’s Lalbagh area early yesterday, reports UNB.
Police, meanwhile, have arrested a suspected rapist—Saikat Islam Rana—from the area.
Sources at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) said the victim, a Class-IX student of a school at Baghbari under Darus Salam Police station, went to Kamrangirchar on Tuesday to visit her paternal aunt’ s house.
She came out of her aunt’s house on Tuesday afternoon and went sightseeing with her friend, Sujan, in Lalbagh area. On the return trip to Kamrangirchar, Sujon reportedly went to a nearby place to bring drinking water keeping the girl in a secluded place at Shaheed Nagar around 1am, DMCH sources said quoting the victim.
However, Sujan did not find the girl there after his return with water. Having failed to trace the girl searching the area, he informed a patrol team of Lalbagh Police Station of the matter, said officer-in-charge of the police station Moniruzzaman.
