On a day when Bangladesh were eying to take a lead over South Africa, opener Tamim Iqbal touched a landmark of making at least a fifty plus knock against all Test nations whom he played.
He played Test against eight nations other than Australia and with the 57-run knock in the first innings he completed the cycle. Only Mushfiqur Rahim among the current batch of player has had the record of scoring fifty against those eight nations. Mushfiqur also didn’t play any Test against Australia. In fact no current players as of now play a Test against Australia who played their last Test against Bangladesh in 2006.
Both of them would have the chance to complete the cycle when Australia will tour Bangladesh in next September for a two-match Test series.
However former captain Habibul Bashar Sumon is the only Bangladesh players who had at least one half-century against all Test nations including Australia.
Both Tamim and Mushfiqur could join Sumon in next September. Tamim has worst record against South Africa, scoring just 103 at an average of 12.87 with the highest score of 31 ahead of this Test. He had the opportunity to make it good in this Test and in his first attempt he is successful.
