Stocks eased yesterday to open week with a positive note when the daily transaction surged on active participation of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
Over 38 crore shares changed hands at Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) at the week's opening session for Tk 1,285.59 crore.
DSEX - the major price index of DSE - finished the session by 4.64 points up at 5,676.26. The blue-chip DS30 also followed the same trend with 5.39 points up at 2055.03. But the Shariah DSES finished the session with 3.37 points down at 1308.80.
Among the traded 330 issues at DSE, 145 closed higher against 145 losing issues.
The top five gaining companies were Continental Insurance, Khan Brothers PP Woven Bag Industries Limited, Purabi Generation, Provati Insurance and Al-Haj Textile. The major losers included Lanka Bangla Finance, Zeal Bangla, Shepherd, Exim First Mutual Fund and Matin Spinning.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by Beximco, Far Chemical, BXPHARMA and Shepherd.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also followed the same trend with its CASPI index 12.56 points up at 17,583.25.
The daily tread value rose to Tk 78.58 crore and the volume was 2.61 crore shares. Out of the traded 259 issues 115 closed up against 108 lagging securities.
