Economic conference held at NSU
The Department of Economics of North South University (NSU) organised a two-day conference titled Economic Conference 2017 yesterday, says a press release.
The challenges and opportunities of Bangladesh, as it is going towards upper middle income status were the main content of the conference. Dr Mashiur Rahman, economic affairs advisor to the Prime Minister, was the chief guest of the conference.
Dr Zahid Hussain, lead economist, The World Bank, attended the programme as the special guest along with Prof Atiqul Islam, Vice-Chancellor, NSU, as session chair, Prof GU Ahsan, pro-vice chancellor (designate), NSU, Prof Gour Gobinda Goswami, Treasurer, NSU, Prof Mohammad Mahboob Rahman, dean, School of Business and Economics, NSU, was special guests and Prof M Ismail Hossain, chairman, Department of Economics, NSU, delivered the welcome speech in the conference.
StrayBird celebrates 12th anniv
StrayBird, the literary and cultural forum of the Department of English of Stamford University Bangladesh, celebrated its 12th anniversary by organising a literary colloquium and cultural show titled Literature and Performing Art on Siddheswari campus in the capital Saturday, says a press release. The keynote speakers of this programme were Ataur Rahman, a renowned actor and director, and Prof Abdus Selim, North South University. Both of them discussed co-relation between literature and performing art through using subtle references, examples and experiences.
The programme is inaugurated by Prof M Feroze Ahmed, vice-chancellor of Stamford University Bangladesh. Dr Farahnaaz Feroz, member, board of Trustee, was also present as special guest. Prof Waliul Islam, Chairman of the Department of English, Stamford University Bangladesh, also addressed The literary session was followed by a cultural show where the students performed.
