The trade value, which remained around Tk 500-crore mark in the past seven weeks, crossed Tk 700 crore to hit two-month high yesterday, with a phenomenal 45.16 per cent rise over the previous session’s transaction value, reports BSS.
The trade volume also surged accordingly by 30.78 per cent to 14.10 crore shares, taking the total transaction in value to Tk 715.17 at close. Last time the trade value crossed Tk 700 crore on June 2, 2015.
“Investors keyed up yesterday after week long vacation and were busy to play on stocks totalling the daily market turnover value Tk 7.15 billion, which is close to around two months’ high,” said Lanka Bangla Securities Limited (LBSL).
The price indices, those showed sporty move at the last session, held the rising trend yesterday, but with moderate gains as the higher activities remained around some specific stocks including banks and multinational companies.
DSEX, the broader price index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), increased by 10.66 points and closed at 4741.98, when the Shariah DSES were 7.09 points up at 1171.23, but the blue-chip DS30 made marginal loss to 1857.44.
Almost all the major sectors closed in green, with food and allied, fuel and power, bank, tannery, NBFI, and pharmaceuticals advancing most. Cement, telecom and textile among the major lagging sectors.
The majority of the traded issues closed lower as selling pressures were high for large-cap and new issues and for mutual funds.
Exim1stMF, Samata Leather, RD Food, Saiham Cotton and Bengal Windsor were the major losing companies among the day’s 154 lagging issues.
Among the 134 advancing securities, the top five gaining issues were Islami Bank, SPCL, National Polymer, Meghan Cement and Eastern Insurance.
SPCL topped the turnover list followed by BSRM Limited, Lafarge Surma, MJLBD and Active Fine.
Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) witnessed a mixed trading yesterday when its major index fell, but the selective ones gained. The trading at the port city’s bourse closed with CSCX index losing marginally to come down at 8848.29.
Out of the traded 247 issues, 98 advanced, 124 incurred loss and 25 remained static when 1.29 crore shares worth Tk 51.82 crore changed hands.
