The government is going to develop 'juveniles club' at Union Parishad and Pourasabha levels shortly, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki said in the capital yesterday, reports BSS.
She said a total of 4,880 Juveniles Clubs- each at 4,550 UPs and 330 at Pouasabhas- would be established at a cost of Tk 2,000 crore under a new project in order to organise the youths and utilize their positive powers to eliminate child marriage and dowry while empower women at local levels."A dedicated room for juveniles would be provided for the club at each Union Parishad and Poura Bhaban across the country," the state minister said while speaking at a views-exchange meeting in the capital. The juveniles would be made change makers for society, she assured.
According to the decision, the juveniles- both girls and boys- would be involved in the club activities so that they can be made aware of different issues and be engaged as advocates for social change at their local communities. At present, 79 such clubs exist in the country and those have been fostering platforms for friendship among youths.
Women and Children Affairs Secretary Nasima Begum and Director General of the Department of Women Affairs Begum Shahin Ahmed, among others, were present.
