The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 yesterday recorded deposition of eighth prosecution witness (PW) in the crimes against humanity case against five alleged Razakars from Rajnagar in Moulvibazar, reports BSS.
Septuagenarian Abdul Kadir, a farmer by profession and victim of monstrous crimes allegedly committed by Shamsul Hossain Tarafder alias Ashraf, Md Nesar Ali, Yunus Ahmed, Md Ujer Ahmed Chowdhury and Mobarak Miah testified in the case and was cross examined by the defence counsels afterwards.
"Around 150 Pakistani army men and Razakars including the accused raided our village at the dawn of November 29, 1971 and apprehended me, my elder brother Freedom Fighter Abdul Basit Badshah and neighbor Nojabat Ali. They took us to Rajnagar police station and beat us mercilessly for the whole day," Kadir said.
Showing the injury marks on his body, the PW said in the evening, army men and Razakars put them on a vehicle for Moulvibazar army camp and started thrashing them again.
"They were kicking us all over, breaking one of my ribs, injuring my head and legs. At one stage, I became unconscious and they threw me out of the vehicle, thinking me dead. They took away my brother and Nojabat. On December 9, we found their decomposed bodies alongside many other from the south side of Moulvibazar Government College," Kadir added as he broke down in tears. The witness after submitting his disposition, identified Yunus and Ujer in the dock and pleaded for justice for his sufferings and the death of his brother. After the deposition, Yunus's lawyer Abdus Subhan Tarafder and counsel for other four accused Muzahedul Islam Shahin cross-examined him.
