CHITTAGONG: Voicing strong resentment over the bad condition of roads in the port city, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina directed the authorities concerned, including the city mayor, to find out why those could not be developed for a long time, reports UNB
The Prime Minister also warned that no one would be spared if found involved in corruption and irregularities in development projects, and directed the authorities concerned to implement all the development projects in time maintaining quality.
The Prime Minister was addressing a civic gathering after inaugurating Sheikh Hasina Water treatment Plant at Boat Club in the city.
Referring to her earlier visit to the area in 2015, the Prime Minister said she had directed her military secretary to look into the issue. It was the responsibility of the LGED and the Chittagong City Corporation to develop such infrastructures, she added.
About the new water treatment plant, Hasina said it would play a vital role in solving water crisis in the port city.
She mentioned various projects, including Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport, were implemented by her government for the development of the port city.
Terming the month of March as very important for the people of Bangladesh, she said the country will observe 17th March as the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu, 25th March as the Mass Killing Day while 26th March as the countrys Independence Day.
Hasina said her government will take necessary measures to highlight the atrocities of the Pakistani forces in 1971 before the world community through observing the day in a befitting manner.
