White, Blue panels finalise candidates

Pro-Awami League Sammilito Ainjibi Samannay Parishad and pro-BNP-Jamaat Jatiyatabadi Ainjibi Oikya Panel have finalised candidates for their White and Blue Panels respectively to take part in upcoming Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) polls, reports BSS.
Awami League legal affairs secretary and chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Abdul Matin Khasru will vie for the post of president, while Bangabandhu Ainjibi Parishd Supreme Court wing's general secretary Rabiul Alam Budu will contest for the post of general secretary of SCBA for the tenure of 2017-18.
Wajiullah and Hosne Ara will contest for the two posts of vice-presidents from the White Panel, Rafikul Islam Hiru will vie for the post of treasurer, Shafikul Islam and Selim Azad for two posts of assistant secretary.
Cumar Debul Dey, ABM Nure Alam Uzzal, Hasina Mamtaz, Ruhul Amin Tuhin, Habibur Rahman Habib, Mahmudunnobi Uzzal and Sheikh Md Mazu Miah will contest for the post of executive committee members.
Advocate Md Zainul Abedin and incumbent general secretary of SCBA Barrister AM Mahbub Uddin Khokon will vie for the posts of president and general secretary respectively from Blue Panel, while Umme Kulsum Begum Rekha and Dr Md Golam Rahman Bhuiyan will contest for the two posts of vice-president.
Blue Panel nominated ABM Rafikul Islam Talukder (Reza) for the post of treasurer, Qazi Joynul Abedin and Shamima Sultana Dipty for two posts of assistant secretary.
Sheikh Tahsin Ali, Md Emdadul Haque, Ayesha Akter, Md Ahsanullah, Md Musabbir Hasan Bhuiyan (Roman), Md Hasibu Rahman and Moushumi Akter will constest for the posts of executive committee member.
The two-day election will be held on March 22, 23, while the balloting will start at 10 am and continue till 5 pm with one hour recess.
"The decision was made at a meeting of executive committee of Supreme Court Bar. Advocate Harunur Rashid will act as the convener of the sub-committee for the election," Nimesh Chandra Das, superintendant of Supreme Court Bar, told BSS recently.
A total of 5,028 members of the bar are eligible to cast their ballots in the election.
