A Dhaka yesterday placed Maulana Abul Kashem, the alleged spiritual leader of militant outfit 'Neo JMB', on a five-day fresh remand in case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, reports UNB.
Metropolitan Magistrate Waez Kuruni Khan Chowdhury passed the order after Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) Inspector M Jahangir Alam, also the investigation officer of the case, produced him before the court seeking a 10-day fresh remand on completion of his 7-day remand.
The CTTC members arrested the 'Neo JMB' leader Kashem from Senpara Parabata area of Mirpur in the capital on March 3. Abul Kashem, who is also known as 'Boro Hujur' in the militant group, had reportedly given approval to a number of attacks, including the Holey Artisan Bakery one of Gulshan, according to the CTTC.
Later, a court here placed Kashem on a seven-day remand in the case filed in connection with a police drive at a militant den at Kalyanpur that killed nine suspected militants.
