A man was beaten to death allegedly by mob suspecting him a robber in Venda Chowdhury Para area of Chittagong on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Md Babul 40, son Abdur Rashid under Bandar Police Station in the city.
A case was lodged yesterday with Bandar Police Station in this connection.
A robbery has been committed reportedly at a stationary shop. On Friday morning some local people brought Babul to the spot and wanted to know about the stealing.
At one stage they started beating him as he denied the allegation, said Moinul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bandar Police Station.
On information, police rushed to the spot and recovered the body and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy,
said the officer-in-charge (OC).
The deceased was a fish seller by profession, however, sneak theft charges were against him in the area, said the officer-in-charge (OC).
Victim’s brother Omar Faruk filed a case against the people who allegedly killed Babul, said the officer-in-charge (OC).
