The participating clubs have started furnishing their respective team for the upcoming Dhaka Premier League (DPL) before the end of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) as there is no hard and fast rule of player’s selection.
The Cricket Committee of Dhaka Metropolitan (CCDM) last week held a discussion with clubs and tentatively fixed schedules for the players’ transfer and the start of the league. As per their announcement, the players’ transfer will be taken place on March 17-18 and the league will start on April 7.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon earlier told media that the players’ transfer of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will be held by the traditional system in place of “Player by Choice”.
It is learnt that the bulk of the teams including defending champions Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Gazi Group Cricketers meanwhile almost finished their players’ selection.
Like others teams, Legends of Rupganj, who had finished the last edition with third, started working to form their team for the 2017-2018 season. The club meanwhile finalised their preliminary deal with Bangladesh shorter-versions captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim, all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad.
An official of the club confirmed the news, stating that they will form the team for the championship.
“In a bid to triumph the league title, we will form our team. We have already talked and finished the primary deal
with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah Riyad,” said the official.
He also informed that we have talked with national team’s spinner Taijul Islam but ensured the service of the experienced spinner Abdur Razzak to make stronger their spinning attack.
Along with that, we talked with Dollar Mahmud and Dewan Sabbir, who both will play with Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to strengthen their pace battery.
It is learnt from that official that they have talked with a string of foreign players including Pakistan-born all-rounder Ashar Zaidi, Indian Pawan Negi. None of them could play the whole tournament. But they will come only for some matches for a short period.
This year Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity and Partex Sporting Club have been promoted in place of Cricket Coaching School (CCS) and Kalabagan Cricket Academy (KCA). The duo will join with defending champions Abahani Limited, Mohammedan Sporting Club, Brothers Union, Prime Doleshwar Sporting Club, Prime Bank Cricket Club, Gazi Group Cricketers, Legends of Rupganj, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, Victoria Sporting Club and Kalabagan Krira Chakra.
