Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday said their party will accept the people’s mandate even if it loses the next general election, reports UNB. "The Prime Minister will respect people's verdict even if she is defeated in the next parliamentary elections," he said while addressing a programme at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of Dhaka University (DU) marking the golden jubilee of Master Da Surja Sen Hall.
The AL leader also said the next general election will be held under the supervision of Prime Minster Sheikh Hasina. "She will assist the Election Commission (EC) in arranging the polls in a free and fare manner."
Describing Sheikh Hasina as a good person in the country's politics, he said there is no alternative to becoming good to be a good politician.
Bemoaning the mentality of the current student leaders, Quader said going down the memory lane, "I used to go outside Dhaka either by a bus or a train. But the present student leaders use a plane which I didn't even imagine in my dream." He also urged the student leaders to nurture ethics and values to become good politicians.
