3 pharmacies fined in Sylhet
SYLHET: A mobile court of the Sylhet district administration on Thursday fined three pharmacies Taka 30,000 for selling unapproved medicine in Dakshin Surma upazila of the district.
The convicted pharmacies are The Foysal Medical, Zerin Pharma and Medicine Corner in Chandipur area of the upazila. Executive Magistrate of the district administration Hossain Mohammad Jaki led the mobile court and fined the pharmacies.
One tonne ‘jatka’ seized in Ctg
A mobile court of Chittagong District Administration assisted by police seized one tonnes of jatka (hilsa fry less than 10 inches) in Fishery Ghat area of Chittagong yesterday.
The mobile court was conducted by Hasan Bin Ali and Md Arafat Hossain, executive magistrates of Chittagong District Administration while representative of Directorate of Fisheries was present.
However, the court could not found warehouse owner Shamsu Sawdagor during the drive. “The fish were distributed among 17-18 orphanages,” said Executive Magistrate of Chittagong District Administration Hasan Bin Ali.
Government imposed ban on catching jatka and is observing jatka preserving week from Mach 11 to Mach 17 across the country.
Five cultural personalities honoured in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Five cultural personalities were awarded in recognition of their laudable contribution to the cultural field, reports BSS.
The awarded persons are-- Monjushree Roy (Music), Jabed Ali (Dance), Tazul Islam (Drama), Dr Dinobandhu Paul (Instrument music) and Abu Kalam Azad (Fine arts).
Shilpakala Academy gave the 'District Shilpakala Award-2015' formally in a function held in its auditorium in Rajshahi on Thursday evening. Lawmaker Fazley Hossain Badsha and dance legend Bazlar Rahman addressed the ceremony as chief and special guests respectively with Deputy Commissioner Kazi Ashraf Uddin in the chair. Additional Deputy Commissioners Parvej Raihan and Md Salah Uddin and Cultural Officer of Shilpakala Academy Asaduzzaman Sarker also spoke.
Training on histopathology technologist ends
A week-long training programme on ‘Hands on Training of Histopathology Technologist’ ended at Pathology department on Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) in the capital on Thursday.
BSMMU Vice-Chancellor Prof Kamrul Hasan Khan addressed the concluding ceremony of the programme as the chief guest and distributed certificates among the participants, said a BSMMU press release.
Presided over by the Chairman of Pathology department Prof Ashim Ranjan Barua, Prof Mohammad Kamal, Prof Ashrafunnesa and Research Assistant of International Agency for Research on Cancer, (IARC) of France Kristin Carreira addressed the function.
