CHITTAGONG: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will formally inaugurate a water treatment plant with a daily production capacity of nine-crore liters water in Chittagong on Sunday, reports BSS.
The Prime Minister will open the 'Sheikh Hasina Water Treatment Plant' project at a function to be held at Chittagong Boat Club at 3 pm on Sunday.
Engineer AKM Fazlullah, Managing Director (MD) of Chittagong Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (CWASA), told the news agency that such water treatment plant in Chittagong will be inaugurated by any Prime Minister after 1988.
Chittagong WASA took up the project in 2006 in order to meet the growing demand for water for the city residents.
Financed by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the project began in 2010 and went into operation in November last with a generation capacity of nine crore 30 lakh liters of water per day.
