Natyajan stages Tagores comedy Shesh Rokkha today

Theatre troupe Natyajan will bring their acclaimed production Shesh Rakkha on stage today evening at the Dr Nilima Ibrahim Auditorium of Mahila Samiti in the capitals Baily Road area. Shesh Rokkha is a notable comedy by Nobel Laureate Rabindranath Tagore, which has been dramatised and directed by young theatre activist Mohsina Akter for Natyajan. This is the ninth production of the troupe.
The amusing story of the play combines incidents in a domestic setting. However, an adaptation of Tagores comedy, Natyajans Shesh Rakkha presents a different interpretation of the Tagore creation through contemporary style.
The play, which brings out the progressive ideas of Tagore, is a story of four couples, their lives, crises and more. However, the couples, at one point, realise the depth of their relations following a series of mistakes. Two friends--Nibaran and Shibcharan--want to fortify their friendship through having their respective offspring marrying each other. Godai, son of Shibcharan, and Indumati, daughter of Nibaran, are the ones who are supposed to get married. Komol is an orphan who lives with Nibarans family. Young lawyer Chandra is a close friend of Godai. Indumati and Komol are friends with Chandras wife. Binod, another friend of Godai, hears Komol singing at Chandras home. Without even seeing her, Binod decides to marry Komol and the marriage takes place eventually. The coinciding romantic interests and marriages create situations meant to generate laughter.
Apart from directing the play, Mohsina Akter has designed the set, stage lights and costumes for the production. Uttam Guha is the art director of the play while Anik Basu did the choreographer of the production.
The cast of the play includes TV actress Chitralekha Guha along with Shimu, Nolok, Shumona, Liton and Tabibul Islam.
