Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq yesterday said some 21,397 cases on income tax, duty and value added tax (VAT) of National Board of Revenue (NBR) are under trial, BSS reports from SANGSAD BHABAN.
“Of the cases 4,055 on income tax related, 3,432 of VAT related and 13,910 on customs duty related,” he said this, while replying to a starred question from treasury bench member M Nazrul Islam Babu in the Jatiya Sangsad.
The minister informed the House that the High Court Division and the Appellate Division have undertaken initiative to dispose cases on income tax, duty and value added tax related after assuming power of the present government.
To this end, the government has appointed experienced assistant attorney general/deputy attorney general to dispose only those cases through coordinated efforts led by the attorney general and other law officers, he said.
