DU Suriya Sen Hall to celebrate golden jubilee today
Master Da Suriya Sen Hall Alumni Association of Dhaka University (DU) is going to celebrate its Golden Jubilee (50th founding anniversary) today at the Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) of the university.
Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the function as the chief guest, while DU Vice-Chancellor Professor AAMS Arefin Siddique will be present as special guest. The Alumni programme will start at 8am and continue till 10pm.
A colorful rally will be brought out from the TSC premises at 11am and parade through the campus. The rally will end at Surja Sen Hall premises. Later, the former students will visit the dormitory to exchange greetings with the students.
German team calls on DU VC
A leading German nutrition research group expressed its willingness to work with Dhaka University (DU) to carryout academic researches on food technology, a press release of the university said.
It said a three-member delegation of German Institute of Food Technologies (DIL) met DU Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office on the campus and discussed prospects of joint research initiatives on Thursday.
"During the meeting, they discussed the possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes on nutrition and food science between DU and DIL," the press release said. It added, "They also agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding in this regard soon." DIL's Director and CEO Dr Volker Heinz led the delegation with Dr Christian Kircher and Dr Stefan B Irmscher being its other members.
Acting Vice-Chancellor of German University Bangladesh (GUB) Professor Dr Ing Saifullah Khandker was also present at the meeting.
RU, Japan technical institute sign MoU
RAJSHAHI: A linkage has been established between Rajshahi University (RU) and Kyushu Institute of Technology in Japan (KUTECH) for mutual interests of the two institutions.
RU Vice-chancellor Prof Md Mijanuddin yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) which earlier signed by KUTECH President.
KUTECH President Professor Shoji Otabe, who was on a three-day visit to the RU, was present on the occasion. Through the linkage, teachers, researchers and students of the two institutions can take part in education and research on medical technology and biomedical engineering, the RU sources said.
RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Registrar Prof Enttajul Haque, Students Adviser Prof Mijanur Rahman,Prof Shamim Ahmed and Prof Khademul Islam Mollah from Department of Computer Science and Engineering were present on the MOU signing ceremony.
Management Alumni reunion at IU today
KUSHTIA: A two-day reunion of Management Alumni of the Islamic University (IU) will be held on Friday on the campus.
Management Alumni Association organised the reunion programme with the aid of the department. The reunion will be ended on Saturday with various programmes.
Vice-Chancellor of the university Prof M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari is expected to attend the reunion programme as the chief guest while Pro-Vice-Chancellor Prof M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof M Selim Toha, Business Faculty Dean Prof Kazi Akhtar Hossain will present as special guests.
Management department chairman Prof M Mahbubul Arfin will address the welcome speech at the discussion while Management Alumni Association convener Mohammad Mohsin will preside over the function.National Award winner film 'Chuye Dile Mon' will be shown at the 1st day around 6:30pm at Bir Shrestha Hamidur Rahman central auditorium of the campus.
In the second day, a colorful procession, discussion, former and current students' reminiscing, approval of the alumni constitution, raffle draw and a cultural function will be held on the campus. Following the function, Business Administration building has been decorated with paints, LED lights and the main roads of the campus decorated with colorful festoons.
