Customs officials seized eight gold bars, worth about Tk 40 lakh, from a passenger at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong yesterday.
Md Morshed, 44, a resident Hathazari upazila of Chittagong, came from Muscat by BS-322 flight at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport yesetrday morning.
Acting on tipped-off customs officials stopped Morshed while he was crossing the green channel of the airport and after searching his body they found the gold bars, said Kamrul Islam, assistant commissioner of Chittagong Customs House. The eight pieces of gold bars, weighing about 928 gram, and worth about Tk 40 lakh, Kamrul added.
