Popular Bangladeshi actress-director Rokeya Prachi is going to attend a seminar in Kolkata as a speaker on the occasion of International Women’s Day today. The seminar has been arranged as a part of the upcoming ‘Women’s Film Festival’, which is set to kick off on March 10 in Kolkata.
DhakaLive has news that Prachi will deliver her speech on the topic of ‘Is there anything called women’s cinema?’ during the seminar. To attend the event, she left Dhaka for Kolkata yesterday. Filmmaker Anumita Dasgupta will moderate the seminar, where Reeta Dutt and Abantika Chakraborty, among others, will be present as speakers.
Prachi said about attending the seminar, “Undoubtedly, this is an honour for me, as a female director and actress, to attend the seminar. I will get an opportunity of highlighting the development of Bangladesh’s women, their position in the society and their role in films while delivering my speech at the seminar. I am grateful to the organisers for inviting me to this event.”
However, Prachi is presently busy with her new film ‘Urojahaj’, where she is playing the central role. She informed the shooting of the film will begin soon.
