World Bank consultant calls on NU VC
World Bank Consultant Koen Geven called on the Vice-Chancellor of National University (NU) Professor Dr. Harun-or-Rashid in the NU city office in the capital yesterday, says a National University a press release.
They held a discussion on System Approach for Better Education Results at the Tertiary Level. While briefing him about the National University and its education system including governance of affiliated colleges, the Vice-Chancellor assured him of full cooperation regarding collection of relevant information from colleges as per his requirement.
Professor Hafiz Md. Hasan Babu, Dr. Anwar Hossain, Dr. Shamsuddin Elias, Mr. Badruzzaman, Md. Mominul Islam and Sumon Chakraborty were present in the meeting.
Smartphone app launched at RU
A smart phone app named “RU Contact Apps” has been launched with the aim of making information accessible digitally and creating a digital campus at Rajshahi University.
By using the mobile app, any user will get all his personal and university related information at one place including personal contact number, job status, salary, all kind of results, smart Card, treatment, hall seat management, department, faculty, administration, emergency departments and so on. The app can be downloaded from the university website ru.ac.bd.
The newly innovated app was launched by RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammed Mizanuddin, who attended as the chief guest, at a programme on the campus yesterday morning where pro Vice-Chancellor Prof Chawdhury Sarwar Jahabn attended as special guest. RU Treasurer Prof Sayenuddin, Registrar Prof Dr Entajul Haque, Student Advisor Prof Dr Mizanur Rahman, Public Relations Officer Prof Mosiur Rahman, Proctor Prof Dr Mojubul Haue Azad, Computer Center Director Prof Dr Khademul Islam Molla, App innovator and Computer Science and Engineering students Azmal Hossain Polash and Sohel Sarwar among others, were present at the programme.
RU Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammed Mizanuddin said, “Recently, we have installed 375 MW solar panel system, wifi system were set up in dormitories and administration offices on the campus and around 200 CCTVs will be installed very soon. We want to build a fully self-dependent digital campus.”
IU F-unit readmission test March 16
The authority of Islamic University (IU) in Kushtia is going to hold readmission test of F-unit under the faculty of Science and Technology on March 16.
The decision came from an emergency meeting of central admission committee of the university chaired by Vice Chancellor Professor Dr M Harun-Ur-Rashid Askari, Pro-VC Professor Dr M Shahinoor Rahman, Treasurer Prof. Dr M Selim Toha, various faculty dean, departmental chairmen and members of unit coordinators were present.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the administration building around 12:30 pm on Monday.
The readmission of the unit will be held at 10am on the campus. A total of 2,944 applicants of the unit were participating in the readmission test.
It may be mentioned that, IU Syndicate on Monday cancelled the admission and decided to hold readmission test of the unit.
JU 1st year classes start tomorrow
The classes for the 1st year bachelor (honours) courses under the academic session of 2016-17 (46th Batch) of Jahangirnagar University (JU) will start tomorrow (Thursday) while the entrance ceremony will be held on March 19.
JU Public Relations office confirmed it through a press release yesterday (Tuesday).
Due to the existing accommodation crisis at dormitories, the university authority will not able to allot seats among the newly admitted 1st year students right now, it said.
When the seats will become vacant, associated hall provosts will take initiative to accommodate them in vacant seats.
Moreover, the university authority will launce Dhaka to JU special bus services for the first year students so that they can attend classes regularly without staying at dorms.
In the meanwhile, the university authority has also taken initiatives to drive out the students living illegally at dormitories.
Already, a notice signed by JU Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique has been issued asking those living at dormitories illegally to leave and the letter has been distributed among all residential hall rooms. This year, a total of two thousand and thirty students have been admitted in different departments and institutes of JU.
Orientation and farewell programmes held at RU
Orientation program for the newcomer students under 2016-17 academic session of Philosophy Department and farewell for the students under 2011-12 academic session were held on the Rajshahi University (RU) campus yesterday.
The event was organized by Philosophy Department at Mosarrof Hossain Gallery of Momotazudin Arts Building on the campus.
The chairman of the dept Prof Dr Asaduzzaman presided over the program while former chairman of the dept and prominent writer Prof Dr Hasan Azizul Haque, Prof Dr Mahendra Nath Odikari, Prof Dr Sahmsuddin, Prof Dr Shahjahan, among others, were present as honorable guests.
A prize giving ceremony and cultural programme were also held on the campus. Speakers in their welcome speeches to the newly admitted student urged them to contribute to the society, country and humanity alongside their education.
They also advised all old and new students, who were present, to build their career to serve the nation.
