The weeklong ‘Bangladesh Patha Natak Utsab 2017’ (Bangladesh Street Theatre Festival), organised by Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad, will come to end today by staging five theatrical plays and a special presentation of ‘Alkap Gaan’ on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar in the capital. On the closing day, today, Narayanganj-based troupe Sangsaptak Natyadal will bring their satirical play ‘Mantabya Nishproyojon’. Written by Sanaullah Haque and directed by Sampad Kumar Acharya, the play criticizes all the ruling political parties and leaders. In the play, the political parties and politicians are not doing their duties accordingly and do not do anything for the welfare of the public. They rather misuse power for personal interest.
Besides, Subachan Natya Sangsad will bring their street drama ‘Bodhodoy’, scripted Sayeef Ahmed and directed by Ahmed Gias, while Natyadeep theatre troupe will bring ‘Haati’ (Elephant) scripted and directed by Niranjan Adhikari.
Beanibazar Sangskritik Command’s ‘Antar Baul’ and Theatre’s ‘Tala’ scripted by Prabir Dutta and directed by Hafizur Rahman Suruj will also be staged at the same venue today.
Besides, a special presentation on ‘Alkap Gaan’, a regional folk performance in northern Bangladesh, will be presented by Shafiqul Islam Sarkar and his troupe from Chapainawabganj on the concluding part of the today’s programmes.
Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad has been organising the street theatre festival on the premises of Central Shaheed Minar since 2002. This year, as many as 50 theatre groups, enlisted with Bangladesh Pathanatak Parishad, participated with their plays in the festival.
