Tushar Imran’s 217 and Shahriar Nafees’s unbeaten 170 propelled Prime Bank South Zone to amass 701 for eight against Walton Central Zone on the close of the second day of the sixth and last round in the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at BKSP ground-3 yesterday.
Shafiul Islam’s five-wicket haul gave leaders BCB North Zone upper hand against Islami Bank East Zone as the latter still have a dearth of 182 runs with three wickets remaining in the first innings at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah.
Central Zone vs South Zone
Resuming the day two at 325-2, Prime Bank North Zone put in another 376 runs at the exchange of six wickets. Although Mohammad Mithun added four runs to fall for 131, Tushar Imran converted his 101 to double century. This is his second double but three in his first class career. After Mosaddek Hossain and Alok Kapali, he is the third batsman, who slammed three double in first class cricket. Tushar kept the record of the highest run-getter and highest number of centuries (23) under his belt. The old campaigner bashed 21 fours to make his patient 340-ball 217 before being dismissed.
East Zone vs North Zone
BCB North Zone resumed the second day at 305-5 and added 69 runs at the cost of the remaining five wickets. Nazmul Hossain though started with 33 fell for 43 that laced with two sixes and three fours. Pacers Abul snapped up three but Saifuddin picked up four wickets. Islami Bank East Zone put on 192 for seven in response to North Zone’s first innings total 374. Pacer Shafiul Islam wrecked the havoc which was started with opener Afif Hossain. Then he sent back Zakir Hasan, Tasamul Haque, Abul Hasan and Alok Kapali to enrich his kitty.
