The stock markets in both Dhaka and Chittagong ended yesterday with a trend of recovery as the major indices were found finishing upwards with marginal rise of some large-cap securities, reports BSS.
The rising major sectors included financial institutions, insurance and textile. A total of 143 securities of the large-cap group rose due to higher activities.
DSEX - the major price index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) - finished the session by 15.76 points up at 5,588.84. The blue-chip DS30 and Shariah DSES finished higher at 2017.22 and 1302.23 respectively with slight gains over their previous closing positions.
Similarly, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) ended the day up, with its major CASPI index finishing 63.46 points higher at 17,306.54.
The daily turnover in value at DSE was Tk 961.08 crore when the volume traded shares was 25.35 crore. Among the traded 327 issues at DSE, 172 closed higher against 104 losing issues. At CSE, 133 issues rose when 85 finished the day lower.
The top five gaining companies were Premier Leasing, Takaful Islami Insurance, Al-Haj Textile, Continental Insurance and Central PHL. The major losers included Meghna Confidence Milk, United Insurance, Bangas Limited, GQ Ballpen and Progressive Life.
Lanka Bangla Finance topped the turnover list followed by GPH Isphat, Baraka Power, RSRM Steel, Central Pharma and Islami Bank.
