WB education specialist meets DU VC
Education Specialist of the World Bank, Koen Geven, met Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office on Sunday.
During the meeting, they discussed Bangladeshs education system. The DU VC apprised the World Bank delegate of a brief history of Dhaka University and its academic and research activities.
British council director calls on RU VC
RAJSHAHI: British Council director Barbara Wakham called on Rajahahi University (RU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Mohammod Mizanuddin at his latters office yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed various issues including strengthening on-going academic and research relationship between Rajshahi University and British Council.
British Council Centre director to Dhaka Zemi Mun, Public Relation Officer Prof Mosiur Rahman, Centre of Excellence in Teaching and Learning director Prof Bishjit Chandra, Institute of English and others language director Prof Md Ataur Ali, Prof Abdullah Al Mamun associate professor of English department, among others, were present during the meeting.
Philosophy Dept Alumni Associationprogramme begins at RU Mar 10
Rajshahi: The Philosophy Department Alumni Association of Rajshahi University (RU) will hold a two-day bi-annual programme on campus on March 10 and 11 March for the second time Arful Islam, associate professor of Philosophy department, disclosed the information to the newsman yesterday.
The programmes, included inauguration session, rally, discussion meeting, reminiscence and cultural programme. RU vice-chancellor Prof Muhammed Mizunuddin is expected to present as the chief guest while pro-vice chancellor Prof Chawdhury Sarwar Jahan will be the special guest. Professor Emeritus Dr Arun Kumar Bashak will be the key note speaker while Philosophy Department Alumni Association president and also prominent writer Prof Hasan Aazizul Haque will preside over the programme.
3rd reunion of RU Zoology dept held
Rajshahi: The two-day 3rd reunion programme of Zoology department of Rajshahi University (RU) was held on the campus through different programmes.
RU Vice-Chancellor Muhammad Mizanuddin inaugurated the two-day event as the chief guest at Shaheed Sukhranjan Samaddar Teachers-Students Centre Auditorium at 10am on yesterday.
Earlier, a grand rally with the participation of former and present teachers-students of the department brought out from in front of the university 3rd Science Building. The rally rounded through the main streets of the campus and terminated on the TSCC premises.
RU Pro-VC Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, former DU VC Prof Shahadat Ali, secretary of Rural Development and Cooperative ministry Proshanta Kumar Ray, and chairman of Zoology department Prof Selina Parveen graced the occasion as special guest. President of the Department Alumni Association Prof Md Khaleqizzaman chaired the programme while general secretary Prof ASM Shafiqur Rahman gave vote of thanks.
