Amir Hossain, an eminent journalist and acting editor of the Daily Sun, died of cardiac arrest at a hospital in the capital yesterday noon, reports BSS. He was 73.
Amir, who was admitted to the Apollo Hospitals on Sunday night, breathed his last around 12 noon, joint news editor Syed Afzal Hossain of the Daily Sun told the news agency.
He left behind his wife, a daughter and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death. Amir's first namaz-e-janaza was held on the compound of East West Media Group at Baridhara while the second one will be held at National Press Club at 4pm yesetrday.
His body will be taken to his village home at Crockchor Village under Shibchar Upazila of Madaripur district for burial.
The noted journalist started his career with the Bengali daily Ittefaq.
He covered the Historic March 7 speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and later served the Bengali dailies Banglar Bani and Joy Bangla, English daily the Bangladesh Today and some weekly magazines.
