'Thief' lynched in C'nawabganj

'Thief' lynched in C'nawabganj

A suspected thief was lynched by a mob at Amjoan village in Nachole upazila of Chapainawabganj early yesterday. The deceased was identified as Gumani, 26, of Dadanchak village under Shibganj upazila of the district. Fasir Uddin, officer-in-charge of Nachole Police Station, said Gumani entered the house of Motiur Rahman around 2.30 am and tried to steal a battery-run auto-rickshaw. As the inmates sensed the intruder's presence, they screamed out for help. Hearing the hue and cry, locals rushed in and chased the man. At one stage, they caught him and gave him a good thrashing, leaving him critically injured. The injured was rushed to Nachole Upazila Health Complex where he succumbed to his injuries around 10am.
