The country's poultry industry operators are expecting that they will begin exports of locally processed food items made of chicken by 2010.
Shamsul Arefin Khaled, president of the World's Poultry Science Association-Bangladesh Branch (WPSA-BB), said this at the closing ceremony of the 10th International Poultry Show and Seminar.
“we have started our preparation to export processed poultry products in the global market. Bangladesh has immense opportunities in the Halal Market”, he added.
Around 50,000 people visited the three-day show organised by the association at Bangabandhu Inter-national Conference Centre in the capital, the statement added.
Khaled requested to withdraw 5 per cent Advance Income Tax (AIT) on importing of different essential raw materials used in poultry feed manufacturing.
He also urged the government to withdraw 10 per cent Customs Duty on soybean import, 15 per cent VAT on DDGS and wave taxes from medicine and vaccine import, in the upcoming budget.
