The sixth and title deciding round of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) will start from today after three-day break at two different grounds of Fatullah and Savar.
Leaders BCB North Zone will lock horns with Islami Bank East Zone at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium (KSOAS) in Fatullah, while defending champions Walton Central Zone will face-off Prime Bank South Zone at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothisthan (BKSP) Ground-3.
Both the matches will be kicked off at 9:30am.
After the end of the fifth round games, BCB North Zone, who are yet to win any edition off the last three, are now on pole position at the points table with 19 points. They clinched win in two rounds and drew three in the last five-round games. Prime Bank South Zone placed second with 13 points that they claimed from one win and four draws.
Islami Bank East Zone closely followed South Zone with 12 points. One time champion won one round game out of five. They conceded two defeats and drew the identical number of games. Walton Central Zone are languishing at the bottom place with nine.
Fast bowler Shahadat Hossain Rajib blames their batsmen for their irresponsible batting performance behind their shabby result in BCL.
“It has been happened many times in past. If we could win the last round game then we could be at least runners-up. The worse batting is the root of our poor performance. Actually bad time is going on for them. It will be difficult for us if we could not handle the situation properly,” said Shahadat Hossain, who is yet to get his team for the next edition of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL).
“If batsmen could make a big score on the board, then the act for the bowlers becomes easier. We the bowlers could not halt the opponent as our batsmen could not score a big total,” Rajib told media at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) before leaving for BKSP. Although they could not be crowned the championship, they are eying to be runners-up. And so, they have no way ahead of them to be triumphed the last round game that he knows well. For this, batsmen have to take up the responsibility on their shoulder.
