RU to install CCTV camera for security

RAJSHAHI: Rajshahi University (RU) has planned for installing 600 close circuit (CC) TV cameras in all sensitive points of the campus in order to enhance security, reports BSS. 
Prof Chowdhury Sarwar Jahan, Pro-VC of RU, told journalists that CC camera will be installed in all important points like faculty buildings, tukitaki crossing, Paris road, Fine arts crossing, Shaheed Minar, Mass-grave, Students dormitories and teachers quarters. 
“We have received proposals from the government and police for installing CC camera,” he said adding that the cameras will be set up at a cost of around Tk three crore according to the proposal.
RU authority has adopted a Tk 364 crore four-year project and the CC cameras will be installed from the project money, Prof Chowdhury says. 
He hoped that identity of the criminals could be detected from far away as the captured photographs will be very clear. After setting up this CC cameras the crimes would be reduce in the campus.
