Intern doctors at the Barisal Sher-E-Bangla Medical College Hospital (SBMCH) called an identified strike yesterday afternoon protesting the punishment meted out to four intern doctors in Bogra. The strike was continued till filing the report.
Dr Sirajul Islam, director SBMCH, acknowledging the facts said he yet to succeed to convince the intern doctors for withdrawing their strike. SBMCH interns have stopped working since Saturday morning.
Hospital sources said 1,625 admitted patients are facing unbelievable suffering in Barisal Medical College Hospital from yesterday afternoon as intern doctors called identified strike.
Protesters say they demand withdrawal of the punishment meted out to four interns at Bogra’s Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital for assaulting a patient’s relative.
Following an inquiry over the February 19 incident, the health ministry has suspended four interns of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Bogra for six months for assaulting a patient’s relative, after which they can resume it at a different medical college hospital.
