A suspected arms trader was killed in a 'gunfight' with police at Keruntali in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox's Bazar yesterday, reports UNB. Tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in an arms making factory around 5 am, said Superintendent of Police of Cox's Bazar Dr AKM Iqbal Hossain. Sensing the presence of police members, a group of arms traders opened fire towards the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight. At one stage, Khuilla Dakat, son of Azam Ullah, a resident of Majher Dail village in Maheshkhali Upazila, was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot. Four police personnel were also injured during the gunfight. Police recovered 13 firearms and 35 rounds of bullets from the arms making factory, the SP added.
