One killed in road crash

A man was crushed under the wheels of a passenger bus at Jolfoitoli area on Dhaka-Kishorgonj highway in Kapasia upazila of Gazipur district yesterday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Nazrul Islam, 45, of Kitonia village in the upazila.
Officer-in-charge of Kapasia police station Ahsan Ullah said a Kishoreganj-bound passenger bus of Uzan-Vati Paribahan hit Nazrul from behind while he was going to Jolfoitoli bazaar from his home, leaving him dead on the spot. As the death news of Nazrul spread, local people put barricade on the Dhaka-Kishoreganj highway protesting the accident. Vehicular traffic on the highway remained suspended for an hour from 7:30 am to 8:30 am.
Police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. The bus was seized; but the driver managed to flee immediately after the accident.
